A Meditation on Gratefulness

Good morning, universe and thank you.
Thank you for the darkness that is followed by the light. And thank you for the cleansing rain, the warming sun and the cooling breezes.
And thank you for creating me: my brain that gives me understanding, my heart that can feel the pain in others, my hands for building and for planting, my legs for wandering, my eyes to see your majesty, my ears to hear your glory.
You have given me health, wakefulness, self-awareness, curiosity, memory, compassion, generosity, playfulness, resilience, perseverance, ingenuity, acceptance, holiness, and love.
I have been blessed with your abundance: ample (and delicious) food, a beautiful and secure home, lush gardens, layers for withstanding the elements, beautiful children, loyal pets, caring friends, devoted teachers, colorful acquaintances, places to exercise my spirituality, work and study that sustains my interest, travels to breathtaking places, music that I can both make and enjoy, great toys, and wonderful spots to sit and lay down
I started with less and now I have more.
I have been given many abilities and talents so that I might enjoy my life in such a profound fashion.
For all of this I am so grateful. I bow my head in solemn reverence and praise the benevolence of the universe.
