How to Use This Book
This book can be used in two distinctly different ways. It can be used in the traditional way as most books and be read from beginning to end. Each chapter builds on the previous chapter, moving from individual health to developing relational bonds to bridging differences to solving problems. Rules and Tools that are developed early in the book support Rules given later in the book. The book is comprehensive and covers a lot of ground.
This book can also be used as a reference, a sort of encyclopedia of skills and guidelines for creating healthy relationships. Each Rule can stand on its own in helping to build a particular skill. Thus you can peruse the Table of Contents and pick out a section that addresses a particular area of concern, without necessarily reading the entire book. Many sections are cross-referenced, so upon completion of one section, another related section can be read to further address your concern. The book can therefore be read in a hop-scotch fashion and not all at once and still give you valuable information for improving your relationships.
